Fluently Flowing
Hello Friend ~
Life, am I right?
Being a human on the planet teaches me something new every day.
When I saw this poem, Fluent, by John O’Donohue, it spoke to me immediately. His words summarize reality so eloquently.
Living confidently within uncertainty is no easy feat. Yet, most of us face some measure of uncertainty each day. How would it feel to implicitly trust life's unfolding, and 'live like a river flows’?
Sharing a little secret here with you: this Note is version #3. My original draft was shelved when I felt called to write about a different subject. And now, I find myself rewriting the entire Note based on my experience of the last 24 hours.
My daughter is a university student abroad and was scheduled to arrive home last night. Imagine our excitement, to see our girl for the first time since last October! Thankful for her safe arrival in the U.S. yesterday, we eagerly awaited her domestic flight home to Detroit. Cancellation followed cancellation and here we are, with growing anticipation and hopeful for no more delays.
And so I ask myself: can I embrace this experience by being “carried by the surprise of its own unfolding?” This may not change the reality of the situation, yet the shift in perspective certainly changes how I relate to it. The angst lessens a bit with an increase in openness to outcomes being different than expected.
As a business owner, I learn this in different ways all the time. I have developed a unique appreciation for being a solopreneur, with a desire to support others who’ve chosen this path.
In the spirit of lifting others up, Karen Faith, LLC is hosting a fun Summer Pop-Up & Open House on Thursday, August 20th, from 4 - 7 p.m. All are invited! Bring your friends and family!
In addition to meeting these unique vendors, the Open House serves as a great networking opportunity. I look forward to introducing my esteemed colleagues to each other and to other referral sources in our community.
Important addendum: By the time you read this, I will have happily hugged my daughter and brought her home.
Flowingly,
