Is Improvement Automatically Better?

Happy September to All ~

What does ‘improvement’ mean to you? Can “good enough” really be good enough? When you intuit that something could be better, what is your impetus to go for it? And finally, is improvement automatically better?

Subjective questions, indeed.

I often find that “new and improved” does not always equate to “better.” With technology, the pros and cons are endless. I am wary of conflating every new update as a ‘better version’ of something I’ve become adept at using.

As a mental health therapist, many clients seek my guidance to improve aspects of their lives. This is certainly a worthy goal. However, I urge caution when seeking perfection, as this can be a moving target.

As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned the critical importance of seeing my decisions as ongoing opportunities for learning and growth. To delay any decision in the name of “waiting for a perfect time or outcome” would stifle my forward movement.

That’s not to say I’ve mastered the art of patience or that I don’t get frustrated at times. It simply means that when my inner critic is ready to criticize, catastrophize, or create chaos about something turning out differently than I anticipated, I am able to quiet that voice and pivot more readily.

It’s important for me to live this way, as it is a real-life ‘practice of what I preach’: Every problem is driven by its unfolding solution. Trusting the process enables me to continuously reframe problems into opportunities.

In the coming months, I will be introducing you to new faces, groups, and workshops I’ve been working on to best meet the needs of those seeking my services. Thank you for being present to my continuous improvement in building Karen Faith, LLC.

Stay tuned!
