Escort the Naysayers, Make Room for Yeasayers

Dear Friend ~

At the beginning of 2025, I committed to a weekly practice of writing on a piece of paper what I was grateful for and putting it in a jar. As you may already know, I am partial to primary colors, particularly purple. It was only natural then, that I chose brightly colored pieces of paper each week and watched my gratitude jar become more and more colorful throughout the year.

I’ve learned the quickest way to equanimity is gratitude.

Understandably, it can feel more difficult to access gratitude in the midst of challenges that bring about stress or sadness. Finding thankfulness in such situations may seem counterintuitive, yet in fact it is the most expeditious way to renew hope.

One of the reasons this weekly practice was so valuable was that it offered me the opportunity to reflect on the week as a whole. Weeks consist of good days, bad days, meh days, along with the possible roller coaster of all the hours and minutes in between. What I found during the course of the year was how this practice cultivated a stronger conscious awareness from which I started to identify moments, or themes, for what I was most grateful for in any given week.

Putting pen to paper is powerful. I am looking forward to reading my colorful notes and being reminded of blessings during the year I may have forgotten in the hustle and bustle of daily life.

This time of year comes with lots of emotions. Think of them as guests at a party and make sure to escort out the naysayers in order to make more room for the yeasayers.

As always, I am here to be a gentle reminder of your greatness.

With Goodness, Hope, & Gratitude,
