BEING-NESS

Good afternoon, friend ~

Thank you for continuing to engage in my monthly communication. Each time I receive a response to one of my Notes, sharing what resonated with you or offering your own anecdote related to what I’ve written, it gives me a natural serotonin boost. What could be better than activating our own happy chemicals in our brain through mutual connection?

The quote by Emerson spoke to me as I observe the beginning of the summer season. With the longer days, I find I expect more of myself. More hours to do more things. Isn’t it remarkable to notice that as more things get checked off the list, the list manages to get longer still? Or is it just me?

I am going to make a more concerted effort to heed Emerson’s words. The dopamine hit that comes with each item checked off the list (another happy chemical activated naturally!) is going to be celebrated and then let go. When the day is done, I will allow it to be enough. Longer days do not necessitate more ‘doing-ness’; in fact, I am deciding to see this time as an opportunity for ‘being-ness’.

Time to be…

Present | Grateful | Peaceful | Thoughtful | Easeful

As always, I invite you to do the same and share with me what’s on your list!
