This Is Me
Dear friend ~
I’ve recently started to familiarize myself with how AI works. What a world, what a time we live in, where the input of a few words can generate an entire thought process ‘artificially’.
I’ve learned I’m not an “early adopter.” Meaning: I am not the first in line to try something new. I observe for a while before I dip my toe in the pool, never mind the full plunge.
Advised to think of AI as a ‘tool’ rather than a ‘shortcut,’ an ‘amplifier’ of my own voice, I tried it.
Well, I was astounded. The first thing I did was call my kids (all young adults aged 18 - 27), exclaiming: “You wouldn’t believe what ChatGPT can do!”
Of course, they are familiar with AI and its many iterations, and I immediately saw myself as “that mom” from all the memes across social media poking fun at people my age.
And you know what? That's ok. I encourage others to give themselves grace, and this was an opportunity to do the same for myself.
All this to say, with me, what you see is what you get. I write my Notes. Every word, every punctuation mark, everything.
When compelled to share thoughts, I write. Sometimes I have an abundance of motivation, and other times not so much. This truth is reflected in my writing, in my work as a mental health therapist, and as a group facilitator.
I am certain there are useful ways to engage with AI. And sure, if it can make life more efficient, I’m all for it. What’s important for me to convey to you, the reader of my writing, is that THIS IS ME. I appreciate you reading and engaging with me.
Speaking of engaging, our groups are well underway. Come join us!
