Illuminating Impermanence
A Cozy December Welcome to All ~
A refrain I hear frequently is, Who Am I? This isn’t me. I want to be ‘myself’ again. In the face of life transitions, changes can occur gradually, or without warning. When life looks different than we expected - especially if our fundamental quality of life is adversely impacted - there can be an understandable sense of loss around who we used to be.
The aging process illuminates impermanence. Who among us hasn’t pondered who we used to be? Let’s consider this: how about we appreciate the past iterations of ourselves, rather than lament what is seemingly lost?
Because the truth is, the attributes that appear to be no more still reside within us. We each possess a core resilience to get us to the present moment. Life events which presented as challenges or obstacles were all met in order for us to arrive here. Embracing the essence of this innate strength can allow us to view who we are with a new lens of possibility.
As we move into this holiday season, I invite you to celebrate the person you are today. Whether you are striving for new goals, in the process of accomplishing goals already set, or accepting changes in what your goals look like, I wish you peace in mind, body, and spirit.
With love and cheer,
